   Join a highly experienced multidisciplinary faculty of settlement professionals to explore the viability of moving your practice into Special Needs Settlement Planning, a cutting edge progression of your expertise.
   Special needs settlement cases arise in the context of tort cases and worker’s compensation cases. To benefit their clients fully, the special needs attorneys must understand estate planning--plus entitlements, capacity issues and the predictable progression of many diseases and injuries seen in special needs cases. In addition, attorneys must understand the settlement process, settlement law, practices, strategies and work with the multidisciplinary settlement team to enhance the life of our clients and their families.
   Litigation firms have become increasingly aware of liability exposure and the impact on their catastrophically injured client’s life when special needs are ignored in the settlement. Special needs practitioners are more likely than ever to be called into special needs settlement cases.

Developing your Special Needs Practice:
Planning Beyond Drafting & Administration
   Strengthening your practice and increasing the scope of services that you provide to your clients will be more critical in 2009 and beyond due to the unprecedented changes in our political and economic environment. Day 2 programming of the 3rd Annual Meeting is designed to meet the challenges of the coming year by shedding new light on ongoing client services as well as present new ideas to consider for your practice development strategy.
   The nation's leading special needs practitioners will guide participants through topics ranging from planning for Veteran Benefits, to understanding income tax planning, valuation of estate taxes and selecting the appropriate Pooled SNT. Several of the nation's leading SNT practitioners will also discuss several advanced topics including how practitioners need to prepare for the changing landscape of tax laws in 2010. Day 2 will also include the ASNP annual update on SSI changes and specific issues with David Lillesand and Linda Durston. The day will finish with a Q&A session moderated by a multi-disciplined panel, giving attendees ample opportunity to "ask the experts" and get feedback from colleagues.
