The fourth installment of ASK: Attorneys Sharing Knowledge series will be a half-day program split into two sections with an emphasis special on needs trust drafting. The latter part of the program will be a moderated discussion focusing on context and interpretations of the 2010 Special Needs Trusts National Conference.
Drafting Workshop
Special Needs Trusts require the incorporation of critical elements and mechanisms laid out in clear, precise terms that will accommodate for the infinite variations of your client’s situations. During the first section on Drafting of Special Needs Trusts attendees will be broken into small work groups and tasked with creating optimal language for specified articles of a 3rd Party Supplemental Needs Trust. Each planner has their own methods of drafting to include the essential provisions necessary for a quality document and this year’s ASK Program will focus on combining those strategies to create a Master Trust.
Each group will be moderated and will present their final product at the end of the workshop. Input and questions will be taken to encourage an interactive platform.
*Each attendee must provide a sample 3rd Party Trust in advance of the conference. Please bring a laptop as sample trusts will be distributed electronically.
Pearls and Gems
The second section will be a moderated, panel discussion that will recap the Stetson Conference. Stetson's two-day program covers a magnitude of issues and offers a great deal of substance. Often, it is an overwhelming amount of information to digest. With the conference still fresh in everyone's minds, the discussion will gather together attendees' perspectives and drill down on the most important take-a-ways.
