2012 SIXTH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE ACADEMY OF SPECIAL NEEDS PLANNERS
The 6th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Special Needs Planners was held in the historic Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. The program focused on new developments in specal needs planning that would be affecting our members practice. The Sessions covered a wide range of issues including:
- Eric Skidmore from the SSA brought attendees a direct update on SSI policies.
- David Lillesand as well offered and Update on POMS.
- Jason Lazarus presented on MSAs and what we know about them two years later.
- Steve Riley's session dealt with growing one's practice and creating the right business plan for the right economic situation.

2011 Fifth Annual Meeting of the Academy of Special Needs Planners
Held in San Francisco, CA the Fifth Annual Meeting of the Academy of Special Needs Planners provided attendees with the practical solutions to the most common, and uncommon, client scenarios they face. Drawing on national experts, the Fifth Annual Meeting tasked its presenters to address the more advanced and complex issues of special needs planning while providing attendees with practical solutions and tools to implement them.
Co-Chaired by Mike Gilfix and Kevin Urbatsch, this year’s meeting topics included: The Implications of Genetic Testing, Assessing Alternatives to SNT’s, Qualified Settlement Funds, Creative Housing Solutions and The New Health Care Act.

2010 Fourth Annual Meeting of the Academy of Special Needs Planners
Held in Charleston, SC attendees enjoyed two full days of presentation by nationally recognized leaders in the field of special needs planning. Beginning with a Key Note presentation by estate planning guru, Professor Jeffrey Pennell, attend a full day of presentations by a highly-experienced, multidisciplinary faculty of settlement professionals. With a theme of Strenghtening Our Roots and Extending Our Branches, this year's program successfully reminded practitioners of what core areas of the discipline they are expected to have mastered including drafting, medicare benefits, SSI/SSDI issues, and working with a Pooled Trust as well as some of the newer challenges attorneys are faced with such as Qualified Settlement Funds, veterans benefits and special ed law.

2009 3rd Annual Meeting of the Academy of Special Needs Planners
Held in Rancho Bernardo, CA, attendees enjoyed a full day of presentations by a highly-experienced, multidisciplinary faculty of settlement professionals. Presenters held several sessions exploring the viability of adding Special Needs Settlement Planning to a traditional special needs practice. The second day of the conference focused on topics ranging from planning for Veteran Benefits, to understanding income tax planning, valuation of estate taxes and selecting the appropriate Pooled SNT.

2008 2nd Annual Meeting of the Academy of Special Needs Planners
Held in New Orleans, LA, attendees enjoyed presentations from nationally recognized leaders in
special needs planning as well as the lively exchange of ideas and experiences among colleagues.
ASNP sponsored a community service project - 25 meeting attendees arrived early to participate!
Efforts focused on Families Helping Families, a non-profit that assists families with special needs.

2007 1st Annual Meeting of the Academy of Special Needs Planners
The very first annual conference was held at Stone Mountain, GA. The consensus among attendees
was that they learned a great deal. They left energized and anxious to return to their practices
to apply their newly gained knowledge.
